Village Pond volunteer day information

A big thank you to the twenty people who turn up to help out on our volunteer day at Badshot lea pond on Saturday. The weather was kind and a lot of work got done before we started on the doughnuts, cake and hot drinks supplied by Margaret and Kay.

Oli cleaned out our bird boxes. A group lead by our Ranger cleared the area around the pollarded trees. Another group lead by our intrepid head teacher was seen deep in the undergrowth sorting out our new fence. While yet more volunteers spent their time cutting through the shrubbery to clear access to the water along side the dipping platform.

After the tea and doughnuts much amusement was had by all, watching john and Oli clad in waders remove the duck house back to dry land to undergo repairs and improvements. We plan to put it back in place before the end of the month.

If you would like to get involved we are planning our next working party for the 9th April, but if you cannot wait that long then come down to the Community Garden at The Kiln any Wednesday or Sunday morning from the 2nd March.
